楼上的观念有点太老了.现在对博士的概念完全变了.博士毕业后搞学术的人越来越少了.我认为这是社会的进步.
不知道怎么办 发表于 2009-12-9 14:05
heh, let me tell u this way, no matter what time, phd should never be a job, know exactly your purpose and what you want to pursue in your life before going for a phd
here is a very good article you can share with your friend
http://zhiqiang.org/blog/posts/w ... ficance-and-dr.html
if he is really interested in getting a phd, he probably should focus on questions like:
- does UM have the professors in the field I am interested?
- what kind of work have those professors published?
- is UM having the facilities I need for my study?
- will there any firms in Winnipeg interested in my study?
and then
- how can I be accepted?
- when is the deadline of submitting my application?
not to ask how much money can a phd earn annually, well, I suppose he can certainly question how much funding he can get for a particular research, I just didn\'t see that from your question.
I have seen many people got a phd simply because they didn\'t know what else to do; that\'s actually very sad. in fact, a phd never helps a person get a job easier, instead, harder. |
